TPU/ABS composite board is a functional board made by compounding thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer (ABS) through co extrusion, hot pressing and other processes. It usually uses ABS as the rigid substrate and TPU as the functional surface layer (or adjusts the composite structure as needed), combining the structural strength of ABS with the flexible wear resistance of TPU. It performs outstandingly in wear resistance, impact resistance, elastic recovery and other aspects. The core performance advantages are as follows:
Excellent wear and scratch resistance
TPU itself has ultra-high wear resistance, with a wear resistance index far higher than conventional plastics such as ABS and PVC, and several times that of natural rubber. The composite board with TPU as the surface layer can withstand high-frequency friction and scratching, and the surface is not easily scratched or damaged. Its service life is 3-5 times longer than pure ABS board, especially suitable for scenarios that require wear resistance, such as logistics pallet liners, equipment protective covers, luggage bottom plates, etc.
High elasticity and impact buffering capacity
TPU belongs to elastic materials and has excellent elastic recovery. It can quickly rebound and absorb impact energy when subjected to external impact; The ABS substrate provides rigid support, and when combined, the board can resist heavy impact and avoid brittle fracture. It can still maintain good impact resistance at low temperatures (around -40 ℃), far superior to the low-temperature brittleness performance of pure ABS.
This elastic property also gives the board a certain degree of fatigue resistance, making it less prone to deformation and failure after repeated bending and compression, making it suitable for making flexible structural components.
Good balance of mechanical properties
Balancing rigidity and flexibility: ABS substrate ensures the bending resistance, tensile strength, and dimensional stability of the board, meeting the structural requirements for load-bearing and assembly; The TPU surface layer endows the board with flexibility, solving the problem of high brittleness and easy cracking of pure ABS.
Low shrinkage rate: The shrinkage rate of composite board after forming is controllable, and it is less affected by temperature and humidity changes. It has high dimensional accuracy and is suitable for producing parts with strict tolerance requirements.
Excellent chemical and environmental resistance performance
The TPU surface layer has good resistance to oils, lubricants, weak acids and bases, organic solvents, etc. It can be used in complex environments such as humidity and oil stains, and is not prone to swelling, cracking, or performance degradation; ABS substrate further enhances the chemical stability of the board.
The weather resistance can be enhanced through formula optimization (such as adding anti UV agents), and some modified models can be used for short-term outdoor scenes, making them less prone to yellowing and aging.
Excellent processing and adaptation characteristics
Easy to process and shape: Inheriting the ease of processing of ABS, it can be processed through conventional processes such as vacuum forming, bending, drilling, and cutting. At the same time, the TPU surface layer has good heat sealing properties and can be combined or heat sealed with other materials.
Diversified surface effects: The TPU surface layer can achieve various surface states such as matte, glossy, and anti slip textures, and has a certain degree of adhesion, supporting secondary decorative processing such as printing and film pasting.
Good adhesion performance: The composite interface between TPU and ABS has strong adhesion and is not easily delaminated. It can also be bonded to materials such as rubber and fabrics, expanding its application scenarios.
Environmental and safety features
Halogen free and environmentally friendly: Most TPU/ABS composite boards do not contain halogens and comply with environmental standards such as RoHS and REACH. They can be recycled and reused to reduce environmental pollution.
